BECR Executive Committee Kickoff Meeting
Because we are a group of researchers from two different institutions, the BECR team decided to created an Executive Committee, chaired by Alice Ammerman, to foster more collaborative environment. Our new Executive Committee held its kickoff meeting on February 2, 2016.
The committee was excited to to meeting and looking forward to the discussions that it would generate. Matthew Harding, the Center’s Director and PI, remarked that the committee “will provide a balanced approach reflecting the common wisdom and insight of the group” and will “send a powerful signal that we are putting health and nutrition center stage.”
When asked about his thoughts on the committee, Terry Hartman, the Center’s Assistant Director, stated, “I love having the opportunity to interact with such tremendous researchers as those on our Executive Committee. When people so much experience and knowledge speak, you just want to take in everything. This experience is unmatched and I’m delighted to be a part.”
The Executive Committee will meet quarterly to discuss potential research ideas, partnerships, and future research directions. In addition, the committee will provide oversight for the New Perspectives Fellowship and provide oversight for using BECR resources.
